OOC Collective Meeting Minutes November 8th, 2005
Out on Campus Minutes
November 8, 2005 1:00pm
Present: Garett, Angela, Erica, Paul, Jeff, Karl, Cass, Wynde, Andrina
1. COMMITTEE UPDATES
Website – Karl will be sending another email to ask for volunteers. Garett
and Wynde to help with website.
Halloween Party – It happened, yay!
T-Shirts – the t-shirt design is in the workings.
Pub Night – this committee is hibernating while term papers, etc, happen.
2. VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY
Collective brainstormed possible party activites. It was decided that the
party will happen on Friday December 2, 2005 in the evening. The event will
most likely involve bowling, and possibly a karaoke outing later on in the
evening. More ‘deets’ to come.
3. TDOR – Vancouver Transgender Day of Remembrance
The space at Harbour Centre has been booked.
We need people to POSTER and HAND OUT HANDBILLS. :)
Jeff has asked the organizers of the event if they need volunteer support
and is awaiting a response.
There will be a vigil for the Trans Day of Remembrance next week organized
by Wynde and Jeff. Jeff will ask the Women’s Centre if they are interested
in partaking.
4. BOOK BUY
If people want to suggest books/videos/dvds/resources to buy at the next
book buy please email Jeff at Jeffrey_hayes@sfu.ca with your request.
If anyone is interested in going on the Book Buy to purchase books at Little
Sister’s or another place where queeresources can be found please email the
above address.
5. WORKSHOPS
SAFER workshop happened and was well attended. Yay!
Wednesday November 16th
12:30pm-2:00pm – Supporting Victims of Sexual Violence Workshop
2:00pm-3:30pm – Violence in Queer Relationships Workshop
(both workshops will have an additional facilitator to support any
participants who are triggered by the information in the workshops)
Tuesday November 22nd
12:30-2:00pm - HIV/AIDS 101
All workshops will be happening in the Out on Campus Lounge – TC 314N – in
the Rotunda above the bust stop. Please email Jeffrey_hayes@sfu.ca if you
are interested. All workshops count towards Office Volunteer training and
Peer Support training.
6. POSTER RUN
Out on Campus needs people to POSTER!
We have lots of beautiful posters for lovely events.
Drop by the Out on Campus lounge to look at the bright colours and feel the
glossiness before grabbing a bunch and sticking them somewhere where lots of
people will see them.
7. DOOR ACCESS
Jeff will be changing the door code as per Collective’s direction. Jeff will
be sending an email out with more details.
8. AFTER HOURS – NO TALENT SHOW NOV. 15th
The After Hours Café is having an event – a No Talent Show – Tuesday
November 15th from 6:00pm-10:00pm. Throw your skills and inhibitions out the
door and do something wacky. No talent required.
9. COLLECTIVE MEETING TIME NEXT SEMESTER
Next semester’s Collective meeting time will be determined upon people
signing up at January Clubs’ Days. It was suggested that the meeting time
change every two weeks/month to accommodate a broader participation of
volunteers. If you have any suggestions about making Collective meetings
more inclusive please email jeffrey_hayes@sfu.ca.
